U.S. Extreme Skier Plake among Avalanche Survivors


A renowned American skier was counted as a survivor after having been caught in the Himalayan avalanche that occurred Sept. 21. The avalanche was said to have swept Mount Manaslu at an elevation of 7,000 meters. Along with the renowned skier, several survivors have left the mountain and postponed their plans of climbing this season. 


After Rita, La. Town Walls Off Flooding


Hurricane Rita left the effect of 9 1/2 feet of water on the City Hall steps barely making the flood line of the building. Rita officially became a hurricane once hitting the Texas- Louisiana border and was dawned a Category 3 hurricane. In total the natural diaster brought over 20 feet of water in some areas. 



Air Force One aborts landing, second try successful


President Barack Obama's plane, Air Force One, was put on a delay due to weather conditions. Air Force One had to circle around before landing in Toledo, Ohio for the president's speech. The visibility at the time was three miles and that included fog and mist.
